Annual Report Design

Selected from a shortlist of Australian brand agencies, Percept took a simple, bold approach to this annual report design for The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care.

Case Study

Annual Report Design

The Challenge

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (The Commission) was established by the Australian, State and Territory Governments to lead and coordinate national improvements in safety and quality in health care.

An annual report design was required to communicate significant events, developments and plans covered by The Commission over the 2017–2018 financial year.

Selected from all Australian brand agencies, Percept was appointed for this annual report design. It was important that the new annual report design would stay within the current look and feel for the organisation with some potential to push things a little further, showing their modern evolution. This is likely why Percept were chosen from all the brand agencies in Australia.

The Solution

With consideration for the family of existing annual report design, Percept used the existing branding assets in a simpler, bolder way.

The iconic circular and quadrant graphic devices and transparencies naturally feel familiar and comfortable for the reader. Embracing the print limitations of the internal spreads and cover, this new annual report design leads with a white margin, creating a clean, fresh look and feel that falls in line with previous annual report design, but still retains its own personality.

Bold section dividers are used for differentiation between content within the report, with clear type hierarchy creating a system that looks good and reads easily – key to ensuring information is communicated effectively to readers.
