Communication Design

Visually engaging communication design to aid the usage of My Health Record in the Emergency Department by the Percept design agencies.

Case Study

Communication Design

The Challenge

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (The Commission), with the support of the Australian Department of Health (The Department), has developed an Emergency Department Clinician’s Guide to My Health Record (MHR). This guide will be used by staff and clinicians to support the navigation and operation of the online repository of patient medical information.

Design agency, Percept, was selected from Sydney design agencies to create an easily digestible guide with a distinct communication design style that could roll out to a supporting suite of print and digital resources. The objective is to aid clinicians in consuming information about MHR and achieve maximum campaign awareness and impact, ultimately leading to increased use.

The Solution

Amons the leading Sydney design agencies, Percept created a distinct, clean and visually engaging style that breaks away from the rigid parameters of The Commission’s existing communication design style whilst maintaining key brand recognition elements such as colour and typography.

For this communication design project, careful consideration was given to the treatment of content, to create a consistent, visually pleasing system that breaks the otherwise content heavy document into easily digestible segments. The simple but effective design and layout assists a time poor audience, with line work, illustrations and infographics guiding users through the content.

Alongside the guide, a suite of supporting media and resources were also developed by the Percept design agencies. They were used for both print and digital communication design including a ‘Quick Guide’, Rapid Reference Tools, Posters, Clinical Scenarios, Workflows and a Safe Use Checklist.
