Percept create packaging design for Pork Kurls, a new product by Gold Medal Snacks.

Case Study

The Challenge

Established in 1982, Gold Medal Snacks is an Australian owned FMCG manufacturer based in Sydney’s West.

With a long standing working relationship with design agency Percept in Sydney, they again requested help in launching their latest product to the market, Pork Kurls. The task was a totally new packaging design for this product range.

The Solution

The packaging design needed to be strong on shelf, and distinctly different from competitors’ packaging with a good shelf shout for FMCG retail sale.

The new packaging design uses a dark background with a coloured swoosh and flavour call-out.  The product photography shows the consumer what the product looks like and it is used as a visual feature on the front and runs through to the back of pack.

When introducing this new product to the shelves, Percept were briefed to create packaging design that takes the Gold Medal Snacks brand to a new level, enticing a new audience.

The chosen packaging design gives a feeling of Pork Kurls being a casual snack. This is enhanced with a personal touch of handwritten typography, which is a unique point of difference to its competitors in the category.

Gold Medal Snacks are excited with their new packaging design and they’re sure it will help them successfully introduce another delicious product for pork crackling lovers to enjoy.
