Branding consultant, Percept, created new FMCG packaging design for Pork Kurls, a new product by Sydney company Gold Medal Snacks.

Case Study

FMCG Packaging Design

The Challenge

Established in 1982, Gold Medal Snacks is an Australian owned FMCG snack food manufacturing company based in Sydney.

With a long standing working relationship with Sydney design agency, Percept, they again requested branding consultant help in launching their latest snack food products to the market, Pork Kurls and Pork Krackles. The task for Percept as the branding consultant, was to create a totally new FMCG packaging design for this new product range.

The Solution

The FMCG packaging design needed to be strong on shelf, and distinctly different from competitors’ packaging with a good shelf shout for retail sale.

The new FMCG packaging design uses a dark background with a coloured swoosh and flavour call-out. The product photography shows the consumer what the product looks like and it is used as a visual feature on the front and runs through to the back of pack.

When introducing these new products to the shelves, branding consultant, Percept was briefed to create FMCG packaging design that takes the Gold Medal Snacks brand to a new level, enticing a new audience.

The chosen FMCG packaging design gives a feeling of Pork Kurls and Pork Krackles being casual snack food products that can be enjoyed at any time. This is enhanced with a personal touch of handwritten typography, which is a unique point of difference to its competitors in this snack food category.

Gold Medal Snacks are excited with their new FMCG packaging design and they’re sure it will help them successfully introduce more delicious products for pork crackling lovers to enjoy.
