Design agency, Percept, was engaged by Australian retailer, Fantastic Furniture for this communication design project. The task was to create an enjoyable to read handbook for new employees that introduced them to the brand and its expectations as part of their onboarding process.
The handbook would give new employees access to important information before starting their new role whilst inspiring and generating excitement about their new workplace.
The brief for communication design agency, Percept, was simple – “Make it as engaging as possible”.
Percept worked closely with Fantastic Furniture to determine the objectives of this communication design project. The outcome was to engage new employees, introduce them to the brand in a colourful and visually exciting handbook. This was achieved by drawing on their brand assets, using a tone of voice and communication design style that would demonstrate the enthusiasm and expectations of the brand in clear and simple way.
Communication design agency, Percept, crafted a bespoke solution that captures the high-spirit of the Fantastic Furniture workplace. Clear hierarchy of information was presented in a dynamic way using brand icons, colour and photography to make the handbook a delight to explore.
For ease of reading initially, and to aid with navigation when used as an information resource for future reference, we also developed a unique tab system that allows users to quickly and easily access the sections they desire.
This communication design project resulted in a fun and engaging handbook that was enjoyable to read. It successfully conveys insights into what’s expected from the Fantastic Furniture team, giving new employees an easy onboarding process that provides them with a head-start on their new company’s culture.
