The Challenge

Harrington Industries is a privately owned family business founded in 1919. They use the latest technology to develop and produce complex metal pressings and assemblies.

Wanting a commemorative book to celebrate a centenary of production, Sydney design agency, Percept, were engaged to create a publication design that would capture the family’s history, key moments and iconic products created during their impressive history.

The Solution

Percept approached the publication design for the book to be a high quality, collectable, keepsake through carefully considered design, layout and special print finishes including a spot gloss hard cover and blueprint endpapers for a premium feel.

Percept conducted a photoshoot to capture key products in a clean, ‘matter of fact’ fashion with no extra bells and whistles, allowing each to shine and hero on the page. Part of this photoshoot also included key figures involved in the company.

A professional copywriter was also engaged as part of the project. Careful consideration to the typography treatment and a simple, modern layout for the publication design, presents the content of the book in an easy and visually engaging way that’s informative but not stale.

The 100th anniversary book design showcases Harrington Industries as leaders of the industry with a rich timeline of historical milestones presented through photos, old newspaper clips and interviews. The book design highlights the company’s achievements throughout the publication and the finished article is something they can be proud of for years to come.
